Butterfly garden

Caterpillars on our swan plants
We have been planting to encourage Monarchs and other butterflies to come to our garden and we are very excited because we have caterpillars! We have to take care of the caterpillars and butterflies and show them H.E.A.R.T.

Two tooth day

Wow! What a day we had on Thursday - two teeth came out! First Aliya helped her wiggly bottom tooth come out and then, less than five minutes later, out came one of Tina's top front teeth. They both have great smiles don't they?

Reindeer

Look at the beautiful reindeers we made.

We drew around our shoes to make their faces.

We drew around the faces to make the antlers.

We had fun making the reindeer with Whaea Bev.

Beautiful mural

Look at the beautiful, colourful special mural in our hall. We worked with the Human Rights Commission and Margaret from Pataka to design it and we got to see it at our graduation assembly on Wednesday.

Fun Friday

Whaea Rachel ready for the water balloons
We invited Cannons Creek to a fun Friday but the weather wasn't very good and they couldn't come. They will  come next year.

We tried some of the activities and had lots of fun.

Some people got to throw water balloons, did egg and spoon races and other fun things.

Christmas Chains

Whaea Bev came on Monday and we made Christmas chains.

We made really, really long chains.

Thank you Whaea Bev we loved making chains.

Ole Soccer

We are really lucky because Ole soccer coaches have come to teach us soccer skills.

We  played 'stick in the mud' and learnt how to do toe taps.

We had lots of fun. Thank you Ole Soccer.

Community carols

The  Castor Loop Community carols were held at Russell School last week.

There were lots of people and lots of Christmas hats.
We sang two songs. We were sorry it rained and we had to be inside. They had brought a stage and the little kids liked playing on it.

A big thank you to all who made it possible.

Sculpture

Whaea Liz took this lovely photo of the statue of giant kina we saw on our trip to Wellington - isn't it great!

Hobbit premiere

We were lucky because the day after our trip was the Hobbit premiere. We got to see the statues at the Embassy Theatre and to have our photos taken in the ring at the Hobbit market.

Te Papa lifts

Te Papa

When we were on the Wind Farm trip we went into Te Papa so we could go up the escalator and down the lifts.

They are great lifts because you can see out of them as you go up and down.
We had fun in the lift with our friends from Room 9.

At last the windfarm trip

Last Tuesday we FINALLY got to the wind farm in Makara. We couldn't go last time because it wasn't very nice weather, but this time the weather was lovely.
We got to go with our friends from Room 9. We wore bright yellow jackets to make sure the drivers in town would see us when we crossed the busy roads.

The wind turbines are very,   VERY,   V E R Y tall.
Thank you Room 9 you showed lots of H.E.A.R.T. and we loved going on the trip with you.

Tennis anyone?

Issac came to school on Fridays, for four weeks, to teach us tennis.

He brought a big bag of tennis racquets and new balls.

Russell School got to keep the balls and the racquets, so even though Issac doesn't come any more, we can still play tennis. YEAH!!

scooters

We are so lucky! The other day we had the Scooter Safety Programme come to Russell School.
They brought a scooter for everyone to ride, a helmet, knee pads and elbow pads.
First we put on the knee pads and the elbow pads.

Then we put on the helmets.

We had fun on the scooters.

Thanks Mr Malo for doing it with us!
