Travel Plan

Ali, Loretta, Aliya and Tehina with Sam
Sam came from the council. She talked about how we get to school and how we get here safely.

Sam had a big map of the roads around Russell School.

She gave everyone a sticker. They were different colours. Red for if you came in the car and green if you walked.

Sam giving out the stickers

Then we found our house on the map and put the sticker on it.

Joella found her house with Sam's help

Noho night

Unfortunately there was a mix up at the Marae and we couldn't visit.
Can you see Nino and his big sister Oriana?
But we did have a great night at school. Thanks to Matua Andrew and Whaea Helaina and all the helpers for the wonderful kai.

Playdough

Immanuel and his cake
Whaea Bev made us some great green playdough.
We have had fun using it.
The boys made some colourful cakes. Look at what they used for the candles!

Danny and Josney worked together on this cake

Thanks Mr Sam

This is a photo of Mr Sam helping Eniyah with the computer.
Mr Sam doesn't just help the big kids, he also set up our blog and helps Whaea Angela when something she wants to do on our blog is tricky.

Thanks Mr Sam -we couldn't have done it without you.

Growing sunflowers

Look at these beautiful sunflowers
The New Zealand gardener magazine is having a competition to see if someone can grow a really really tall sunflower and break the world record for the tallest sunflower. The tallest sunflower ever was 8.03 metres.
That would be like two giraffes standing on top of each other.
Giraffes are between 4 and 5 metres tall
We are going to send away for some seeds and see if we can grow some really tall sunflowers.
We hope our sunflowers are as tall as this one!

Our plant

We have an Amaryllis plant in our room.

In the holidays something new grew.

Tehina thought it looked like an egg.

We wonder what is inside it?
We are going to watch it closely to find out.

Porirua Afternoon

Last Thursday we had a special Porirua afternoon. It was lots of fun.
We were all mixed up in groups and did activities about Porirua.
Thursday was the anniversary of when Porirua became a city.

Mr Marment flew the Porirua City flag.

Here is one of the groups outside painting what they would put on a mural, like the amazing ones at Porirua Railway Station

Drumming Licenses

Hurray! Our drummers earned their Drumming Licenses.
Here is Alexia with hers. We can't wait to get ours.

Duffy Assembly

Whaea Pam, Ihaia, Lise, Josney and Eli
We had a great Duffy Role Model assembly yesterday. Our guests were called 'Rhubarb' - they sang songs and told stories. They got people up to help them.
One of the stories was about the sky falling. Whaea Pam was the hen.   Look at Josney as the horse!
